The problem

When you're job hunting, "Over 100 applicants" could mean 101 or 3,000. Without the real number you can't tell which roles are worth the effort and which are already flooded.

What I built

  • Exact applicant count in the job details panel, replacing "Over 100 applicants" in place.
  • Count badges on every search result, loaded only for jobs you scroll to and cached for 3 hours.
  • Applicants per day and repost detection, to show how competitive a role really is.
  • Gentle on the site: a throttled request queue that shares requests between views and pauses itself if rate limited.
  • Never breaks the page: if a count can't load, LinkedIn's own text stays, with a warning icon that explains why.
  • Runs entirely in the browser with the user's own session: no servers, no tracking.
  • Tested against LinkedIn's live 2026 jobs interface, with 50 automated tests.
